The Book Buddy Program joins classroom learning, cross-age tutoring and service-learning to provide an enriching experience for students. The goal of the Book Buddy Program is to deepen the impact of book buddy programs currently being implemented across the district by adding proven elements that have shown positive results. The hope is to improve student’s attitudes toward reading, resulting in increased literacy skills and much more.
Last spring 7 schools, 11 teachers and 306 students participated in a pilot program. The Service-Learning staff has developed a toolkit (below) that includes a program framework, student tutor training, reading attitude assessment and an abundance of resources for teachers wanting to implement similar programs. Give us a call to get started now!
