Our Community Partnerships bring diversity and additional support to all 21st CCLC after school programs. These partners introduce multiple academic and enrichment activities to students that we otherwise could not provide on our own. Grant Evaluator
Rainbow Research has been selectedas the external evaluator for the 21st Century Project. They will assist staff with evaluating theprogram in an effort to increase the program impact, improve program quality,deepen the understanding of program effectiveness and develop tools to measureprogress and success .
Primary Partners
The Area Learning Center (ALC) is a part of the Saint Paul Public School District'sAlternative Learning Programs. Alternative Learning Programs provide avariety of learning environments and extended-day programmingopportunities for students whose needs cannot be completely met within aregular school setting. ALC provides after school classroominstruction in reading and math at all nine of the 21stCCLC sites.
Bolder Options is an activity-based, one-to-one youthmentoring program. They use running & biking, academic goal setting, andvolunteerism to build self-esteem and encourage healthy habits in 10 - 14 yearold youth. They provide programming atthree of our middle schools: Battle Creek, Hazel Park, and LinwoodMonroe Arts Plus – Monroe Campus.
The East Side Arts Council (ESAC) is dedicated toencouraging the creativity and strength of our community. Some of ESAC's programsfocus on socio-economic concerns while others embrace cultural or educationalissues. Among the programs ESAC offers at 21st CCLC sitesare: Hmong dance, Jam dance, art, and Spanish theater. TheEast Side Arts Council is PhalenLake's 21st CCLC primarypartner and also provides programming at John A. Johnson, Battle Creek, Farnsworth Aerospace, Linwood Monroe ArtsPlus – Monroe Campus, and Hazel Park.
The Eastside Family Center (ESFC) is a program of the EastSide Neighborhood Development Company. The family center reaches outand connects children and families with their community through resources,referrals and relationship building. ESFC has an office at Dayton's Bluff and isbased out of John A. Johnson.
The East YMCA provides several 21st CCLCenrichment opportunities including swimming classes and a youth leadershipprogram called Y-Start. The East YMCA is John A. Johnson'sprimary 21st CCLC partner, and is also physically attached tothe school building. The East YMCA's 21st CCLCresponsibilities have expanded to include being the overarching communitypartner for several schools: Dayton's Bluff,Farnsworth Aerospace, John A. Johnson and Phalen Lake.They provide YMCA programming at the schools as well as assisting in creatingtransition programs that offer opportunities for fifth and sixth grade studentsattending Dayton's Bluff, John A. Johnson and Phalen Laketo visit Farnsworth Aerospace and ease the transition to a junior highenvironment
Hmong YES' mission is “to nurtureand develop successful Hmong youth through education programs”. Hmong YES worksclosely with St. Paul Public Schools to help Hmong children and youth succeedacademically. Teachers with Hmongstudents and Hmong parents refer children to Hmong YES for academicassistance. They are expanding theirservices to threemiddle school sites: Battle Creek, Hazel Park, and LinwoodMonroe Arts Plus – Monroe Campus.
Saint Paul's 41 Recreation Centers provide ourcitizens with a place in their neighborhood to learn and recreate. Saint Paul Parksand Recreation is Dayton's Bluff's primary partner and the Dayton's Bluff Recreation Center sharesbuilding space with the school and is connected to the school'sbuilding.
Programming is designed for students to solve challenges,explore their environment, and apply science concepts to their daily livesthrough hands-on, classroom-based sessions during the after school programs atBattle Creek, Hazel Park, and Linwood Monroe Arts Plus – Monroe Campus.
The Skyway YMCA is the overarchingcommunity partner for two 21st CCLC after school programs:Jackson and Washington. They provide YMCA programming for both schoolsand assist in providing transition programs that offer opportunities for fifthand sixth grade students attending Jacksonto visit Washington.
The Minnesota Urban 4-H Youth Learn program ispart of the Center for 4-H Youth Development and the University of Minnesota Extension Service. They provide youthleadership and enrichment classes to students in 21st CCLC after schoolprograms. The University of Minnesota Extension Service - Urban 4-H Youth Learnprogram is Jackson's primary partner in the 21stCCLC grant and also provides programming at Dayton's Bluff, Linwood Monroe Arts Plus –Monroe Campus and Farnsworth Aerospace.
The mission of Urban Boatbuilders is to support positiveyouth development through the building and use of wooden boats. Through the Boatbuilding Partnership Program, UBB works with youth toincorporate boat building projects into their academic and developmentgoals. Projects are held on-site at eachof the following 21st CCLC after school programs: Battle Creek, Hazel Park, and LinwoodMonroe Arts Plus – Monroe Campus.
