Meet Our Instructors

John Ertz
Mr. Ertz graduated from St. Paul Central High School and has received degrees from the University of Minnesota, Mankato State College, and the University of St. Thomas.  He presently teaches in Saint Paul Public Schools Adult Basic Education program as well as works as a certified behind-the-wheel instructor for our Driver Education program.  Mr. Ertz is currently on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Driver and Safety Education Association.

Dave Esposito
Dave Esposito has many years of driver education experience, teaching both classroom and behind-the-wheel.  He started in the Robbinsdale School District at Cooper and Armstrong High Schools while he was teaching social studies during the school day.  After taking an early retirement, he is now teaching for SPPS.  He loves the challenge of learning the complex streets and beautiful scenery of St. Paul and finds the SPPS students to be extremely positive and eager to learn safe driving skills!

Kathy Johnson
Ms. Johnson attended the University of Minnesota where she obtained a Masters in Music Education.  She also completed her Driver Education certification while in school.  She has taught as a music teacher, driver education classroom teacher, and behind-the-wheel instructor in Saint Paul Public Schools for over 35 years.

Jesse McCann
Jesse McCann has been a teacher and coach for Saint Paul Public Schools since 2013 and has been teaching Driver Education classroom and behind-the-wheel since 2020.  Jesse is currently the Washington Technology Magnet Athletic Director and enjoys all sports, especially playing basketball and running. 

Ron McGinnis 
Ron McGinnis has been a teacher and coach with Saint Paul Public Schools for 30 plus years where he has taught at all grade levels as a physical education and health teacher. He received his Bachelor of Science degree and master's degree (Sports Administration) through Minnesota State Mankato. Mr. McGinnis also received his Traffic Safety Education Certificates through St. Cloud State University. Ron chose the path of being a driver’s education instructor late in his career to help shape new drivers into becoming safe and responsible driver’s on the road.

Dave  Zeitchick 
Dave Zeitchick has been a teacher and coach with Saint Paul Public Schools for 27 years. Dave teaches social studies and coaches football at Highland Park Senior High School.   Dave also teaches Drivers Education classes and is a Behind The Wheel instructor.
