Competitive Team Gymnastics

This is what Community Education team gymnastics will look like in the 2025-2026 season:

  • Safe gymnast to instructor ratios
  • One Community Education gymnastics team, with competition team groupings set for a maximum of 10 gymnasts.
  • Practices will be held at Central.
  • Team classes will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, between 5:00 and 8:30.
  • Each team group will have a slightly different practice time, with higher levels practicing for longer times.
  • Team will be broken into 3 levels, depending on audition results. There is a Pre-Team, non-competition level as well.

St. Paul Public Schools Community Education offers Pre-Team and Team Gymnastics designed to prepare focused gymnasts to compete at the high school level.  Youth and families interested in team gymnastics must first start in gymnastics classes and receive coach approval to join teams.

Participate as a Team Member:

  • Gymnasts commit to participating from September through May in order to compete. This ensures that gymnasts are prepared to compete safely
  • Gymnasts are expected to participate in summer as well, and must do so to ensure their place on the team in fall. Returning gymnasts will be assessed to determine placement
  • Attend and participate in all meets. Coaches will communicate meet schedules in fall. Some meet and association fees will apply, Families provide their own transportation to meets.
  • Purchase and wear the team uniform. All uniform elements must be worn at meets in order for gymnasts to compete
  • Competitive Leotards will be purchased by Community Education and must be returned at the end of the school year.
  • Inform coaches of any necessary absences to ensure safety
  • Parents/guardians must agree to the gymnastics waiver at time of registration.

Registration:

  • Gymnasts must be registered with Community Education on time and in the level recommended by the coaches to participate in practices and meets
  • Team gymnasts register in the Fall for practice September-May. Payments can be made in full or collected monthly. For monthly payments, the first is taken at the time of registration, and following payments are taken via automatic withdrawal on the 15th of the month or the nearest work day to the 15th. Payment dates: October 15, November 14, December 15, January 15, February 16, March 16 , April 15 and May 13.
  • If a gymnast chooses to withdraw from team, notice must be given by the 1st of the month to stop the upcoming payment

*If you are in need of financial assistance, you have two options:

  1. We will give 15% off for students that request financial assistance. That is the Sliding Scale Fee listed in the table above. You must call or email Karen to register: karen.booth@spps.org or 651-744-5697
  2. Contact the Sawyer Woods Scholarship Foundation: https://www.sawyerwoodssf.org/

You can use both options, if that is best for you!

Additional Financial Commitments:

  • Fundraisers are held for equipment and team activities. Team members are expected to participate in these fundraisers, but are not required to contribute financially. Teams typically hold one fundraiser per year in the fall.
  • Annual Association Fees to Minnesota Amateur Gymnastics Association (These are approximate, as we have not received final pricing from MAGA yet): MAGA individual fee: $60 per gymnast. Team fee: $120 per team, to be divided among team members
  • Meets require meet and/or association fees. Meet fees average $300 per team, per meet. These fees are collected at the beginning of each meet season. Refunds are not given for absences. If a gymnast is absent from a meet for which they paid fees, that money will not be refunded, but will go towards the final banquet.
  • Uniforms

Full uniforms are purchased as a team every few years or as needed for gymnasts requiring different sizes. Community Education will pay for and provide the team competition leotard, which must be returned to Tammy at the end of each season.

All gymnasts will need to have:

Competition Leo (will be paid for by Community Education)

Practice Leo

Team Jacket

Team pants or leggings

Team shorts

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to gymnastics. We love helping your children develop as athletes and as members of our community.
